Playing Mantis/Memory Lane
| Included in set:
Rudolph, Clarice, Santa Claus, Yukon Cornelius, Sam the
Snowman, Hermey, etc.
Memory Lane has re-editioned their successful (at least quality-wise)
series based on the Rankin-Bass Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
classic. Along with repackaged figures and dolls under the
new Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys name, they've
included a number of new figures and sets that weren't previously
available. As before, the level of quality and faithful reproduction
are dead-on and even the most picky nostalgist will find the
series to their liking.
From the original lineup have returned Rudolph, Clarice,
Santa Claus, Yukon Cornelius, Sam the Snowman and Hermey.
New to the series are Adult Rudolph, Foreman Elf, Skinny Santa,
Comet, Mrs. Claus and Charlie-in-the-Box. Also available is
the Abominable Snowman and King Moonracer Deluxe figures.
All figures are well modeled, come with a variety of accessories
and have a few points of articulation. Some of the animal
figures even are covered in a fuzzy plush material to mimic
fur, which is a nice touch.
with the fine toy line are a series of playsets, which are
excellent on their own. There is a fairly sizable Santa's
Castle playset that's 24 inches tall and comes with to-scale
figures of Mrs. Claus, Boss Elf and Girl Elf. There is also
a Santa's Sleigh with Reindeer Team set that has Santa, six
reindeer and Rudolph, all to scale with the figure line. There's
also a Rudolph's Cave Encounter, with rock base so that you
can recreate the scene from the special. And, to go along
with this is Yukon Cornelius and his dogsled. On top of these
is a variety of figurine sets and even a nice ornament set
including most of the characters.
If you were a fan of the show, you should make an effort
to find these as they are some of the best reproductions of
this holiday classic. Along with these and the The Year
Without A Santa Claus toy line that has recently come
out, you should be able to fill any holiday toy void. Now
all I'm waiting for is a series on Santa Claus is Coming
to Town so I can have my own Burgermeister Meisterburger.
